M&A Auction: Mining > Africa

Mandate

Our client, a global mining company, was competing in an auction for the sale of a major critical mineral mine in Africa.  The sale was attracting many bidders, including several backed by foreign state funding. Our client wanted to understand the background and possible coordination of bids due to geopolitical concerns.

Open-Source Intelligence: ADIT Open-source examination was able to provide the client with a full intelligence brief on the various bidders in the auction including those with foreign sources of financial support.  

Human Intelligence: ADIT was able to confirm a degree of coordination between various bidders in the auction. Given the geopolitical importance of critical minerals ADIT was able to advise the client on several strategic options related to the transaction.  

Result

ADIT provided an Intelligence Report on the auction and competitive bidders that allowed the client to make the best possible decisions related to their participation in this auction.
